A SCHOOL governor at St Peter’s Primary, Bromyard, has stepped down after almost 35 years of dedication.
Dorothy Pooley was treated to a special assembly for her service to the school which has seen her oversee the education of hundreds of local children.
She said: “It’s been very rewarding seeing the children grow up.”
When Mrs Pooley, who lives in Firs Orchard, started in 1974 recently-retired headteacher Martin Holt held the deputy head’s position, and the school was located by St Peter’s Church.
“It’s a delightful area now because they have all the green fields around them,” she added. “Things have changed considerably since the days when I started.”
Mrs Pooley joined the school’s pupils in the main hall for a special presentation and thank-you, in which she was given a bouquet of flowers.
