THE annual parish meeting for Bosbury and Coddington took place on May 7 at the parish hall. The Chairman Gerald Blandford welcomed County Councillor Rees Mills and CSO Alison Dore and two members of the public to the meeting. In the report for the year, the Chairman noted the following:- The speed indicator device has been in the village on three occasions and is helping to control speeding drivers. The Parish Plan committee held a public meeting which attracted 80 people, regular committee meetings are held and members are collecting ideas for the short and long term future of the parish. Thanks to money raised at the Millennium celebrations, a seat has been installed in the new burial ground. A new notice board has been erected at the village hall for public use. Part of Brook Lane and Notehouse have been resurfaced but more work needs to be done. In particular the bridge at Notehouse and the sewage/mains leak at Paddals Lane need urgent attention. Sandbags are available for any future flooding along at the B4220,B4214 junction. The planning committee meet bi-monthly if necessary to discuss new planning applications. The Herefordshire Council housing survey has identified a need for more affordable housing in the village and a site is being sought for ten new homes. The Parish Council will be consulted on this. The Bosbury Conservation Area is being reviewed. Other matters raised included parish paths, funding is available to bid for improved local footpaths. Waste collection - more information is required about the new wheelie bin system to be introduced in November.

At the Parish Council meeting which followed Sven Bosley was appointed as the new Chairman with Julia Boyle as Vice-Chairman. Code of Conduct Clause 12.2 was adopted. This would enable members of the public to have a say in issued which are discussed at Parish Council meetings. All comments and questions from the public would be minuted. Other matters included school road safety, the school is trying to organise a Walking Bus and will also provide a crossing patrol and flashing lights. The next meeting of the Parish Council is on July 2.

Bosbury Players - In addition to their June production of two one act plays at the parish hall on Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28, music rehearsals will start shortly for Gilbert and Sullivan's Ruddigore to be performed at the parish hall on Wednesday, November 25 to Saturday, November 28.
