NEXT Wednesday, May 20 Powick Parish Ramblers meet at Leigh and Bransford Village Hall at 10am for a walk past Winsgrave and Leigh Church with leader Garth Lowe (01886 833363).
Come and meet the new Bishop of Worcester the Right Reverend John Inge at St Peter’s Church, Powick for a service at 5pm. The service will be preceded by a picnic in the church grounds from 4.30pm for anyone to join. (There will not be a service at 11am). For Ascension Day there will be a Benefice service at 8.pm at St James’ Church, Callow End on Thursday, May 21.
A Mission Weekend has been planned by all four churches in the Benefice for the weekend of May 29 to 31. Events will take place at St Peter’s, Powick on Friday with a walk from Callow End to Powick via footpaths to end with a barbecue at 7.30pm. On Saturday morning, May 30 a Magic Breakfast with all the trimmings plus some magic tricks will be at St James’, Callow End from 10am till noon. On Saturday, May 30 an Any Questions Supper is planned at Guarlford Village Hall at 7pm with a bring and share supper plus a chance to ask questions with a panel including the Archdeacon Roger Morris. A Songs of Praise service entitled Musical Fireworks will be held at St Peter’s, Powick on Sunday, May 31 (Pentecost Sunday) at 11am. Finally Madresfield Church is holding a service of worship with guest speaker Ven Roger Morris at 5.30pm. Everyone is invited so come to any event and join the celebrations as the four churches 4 in Faith come together. There is something for everyone!
Last Friday members of Powick Youth club met on the playing field for a barbecue and a games evening. Various games were available including volley ball, rounders, boules and cricket with a chance to socialise and to meet the new youth leader Michelle Phillips. Another similar evening will take place on the field next Friday, May 22 at 7.30pm.
