TEENAGERS from across Worcestershire battled it out at Malvern Town’s Langland Stadium at this year’s Mercian Junior League Finals.
The action-packed 11-a-side day saw six competitions contested with Newtown Sports the dominant winners, scooping four of the titles.
In the u13s girls’ Mercian League Shield final, Kidderminster Girls Lions beat Newtown Sports Girls 2-1.
Newtown Sports Girls took the u14s girls’ Festival Housing Shield after a dramatic 1-0 penalty-shoot win over Dudley Sports Girls. The match had ended goalless after extra-time.
In boys’ action, Newtown Sports Juniors u12s were victorious in the Ron Handy Memorial Shield, beating Welland Juniors 2-0.
Oldbury Park Tigers were crowned the Trophy World Cup winners when they bested Westbury Celtic 3-0 in the u13s category.
But the last two finals of Sunday’s event saw Newtown take the spoils.
In the Wayne Phillpotts u14s final, Newtown Sports Juniors took home the silverware defeating Droitwich Spa Saints 3-2.
In the last final of the day, Newtown Sports Colts defeated Kidderminster Harriers FITC 4-0 in the u15s boys’ Andy Wardroper Memorial Shield.
The prestigious finals day follows on from a similar event for u9s to u15s teams at the same venue in March where more than 1,000 people attended.
