THERE will be a fund-raising evening in support of the Upton Blues Festival at The King’s Head on Saturday, May 16.
The festival was in danger of being cancelled earlier this year after its main sponsor was forced to withdraw due to the difficult economic climate.
However organisers have pledged that the free festival will go ahead, and have gradually been gathering funds, including one major donation that will pay for the main festival stage.
The fund-raiser on May 16 will feature live music from Woody and the Stunt Cocks as well as a host of games designed to get blues fans to part with a few more pounds. Tickets cost £5, available from The King’s Head or PS Presents, in Old Street.
The Blues Festival takes place from July 17-19 and organisers are still looking for sponsors or anyone interested in advertising or having a stall during the weekend.
