ON April 25, a large number of young people from across the Deanery gathered at Bredon School for a variety of workshops. There was a choice of football, dance, singing, drama and art. There was also an opportunity to experience Breathe which is a resource to help young people explore their spirituality. Jenny Baker, one of its creators brought Breathe to the diocese earlier in the year and the diocese has invested in its own set. Although aimed at young people, it is a very interesting resource for adults too.
After the workshops, we gathered on the field to watch a football match refereed by Stan and Lee Dixon, followed by a presentation of the singing and dance practiced during the day under the direction of Kate Cooper and Lottie Milner. The young people enthusiastically sang out We’re all in this Together from High School Musical – a very appropriate song for the day. We also watched a play on the Burning Bush produced under the direction of Reverend Linda Bedford. There was a display of the fantastic clay figures from the art workshop under the expert direction of Anne Harker. Sarah Moss and Vicky Fowkes supervised the refreshment area. The event was rounded off with a delicious barbecue cooked by Chris. We were so privileged to secure Bredon School for this event – a beautiful setting and so well resourced – and we are very grateful to the school.
The young people on the Council worked very hard to organise this event, despite being busy with exams and they must be congratulated for the time and effort they have put in. Thank you to all the adults who gave their support on the day and who helped to make this event so enjoyable and to run so smoothly.
This Sunday there will be a service of Holy Communion at St Mary’s Church at 9.3am and at St Nicholas’ Church at 8am.
