SWIFTS were able to pick from a full-strength squad for the first time this season and came away with a well-deserved draw against high-flying Welland.
The hosts opened the scoring with a long-range goal from Conner Turner after just 10 minutes.
With the game well-contested between both sides, Welland came looking for the equaliser but Swifts defence held firm and Matthew Pearce made two stunning saves before Welland levelled the game.
In the second-half Ollie Cottrill was moved from forward to defence to eliminate Welland’s second-half advantage of the downhill slope and fast attacking football which he achieved superbly. Swifts, who were looking the better side, were then hit by Welland on the counter attack putting them 2-1 up.
But with Swifts in such a determined mood, they hit back quickly with another long-range goal by Courtney Bray.
With only five minutes left of the match, Swifts went looking for the winning goal but Welland held strong in defence ending the game with a 2-2 draw. Man-of-the-match was awarded to Cottrill.
