SWIFTS took the spoils in a return match of the two Malvern Town u12s teams at Victoria Park.
As usual the referee had to closely inspect the tired and muddy pitch before deciding it was playable.
The Colts started brightly but could not find a way through the solid defence and the Swifts took the lead through a good diagonal shot from the right wing.
Seconds before half-time, Tim Tedds seized the ball in a goalmouth scramble and hit a looping shot to even the scores.
The second-half saw a change in both the weather and the fortunes of the Colts.
The two teams battled through wind and sleet, but despite the best efforts of Colts man-of-the-match Sean Pearcy, the Swifts rifled in a second goal.
March Cosalli-Francis’ pace was matched by their defender Laurie Essenhigh to prevent an equaliser for the Colts, and a third goal for the Swifts sealed a win for them in this hard-fought and entertaining derby match.
