WELLAND put their recent disappointments behind them to turn in an impressive performance against Callowbrook Swifts.
Whilst the score line reflected Welland’s dominance it was a harsh result for Callowbrook’s players who never gave up. It was particularly harsh on their goalkeeper who had made a series of good saves to keep the score in single figures.
Sam Whitton opened the scoring when his goal-bound shot was deflected away from the keeper’s reach. Jim Smith added a second and Jonny Amery extended the lead to three before half-time. During the break Oliver Latham-Jones replaced Hayden Coley in goal but he was only a spectator as Welland continued to press throughout the second-half.
Smith added his second before Henry Dyde and Lewi Hobbs grabbed a goal each. Whitton and Amery then completed their braces before Smith finished off the scoring, and his hat-trick, with a powerful shot.
