NEWLY-promoted Welland’s enthusiasm for football paid off again when they excelled themselves on Sunday, with an fantastic display of football against high-flying Newtown Juniors who sit two points off the top of division one.
Ryan Williams had a quiet game in goal in the first-half for Welland while the Welland defence of Gareth Howells, Myles Powell, Jack Pullin and Brad James kept Newtown at bay.
In the second-half Williams used great distribution of the ball to maintain the pressure.
Alex Fairweather made some great challenges along with Jake Lee, Toby Mitten, Charlie Lloyd, Joe Hargreaves and Will Chambers to dominate the midfield.
Up front, Charlie Wasley scored the opening and winning goals, while Luke Wellham and Ben Morgan got the other goals.
Both teams came close towards the end of the second-half, but at 3-2 Charlie Wasley’s winner sealed the game and gave them the three points.
