IT was a case of déjà-vu for Welland. For the second week running they had a squad of seven, for the second week running they had the majority of possession, for the second week running they conceded a bad goal from a corner.
For the second week running the opposition’s goalkeeper kept them at bay with some excellent saves and for the second week running they lost the match.
Welland took the lead in the first-half after Henry Dyde played in Jim Smith who fired under the keeper.
As the second-half progressed Welland started to tire and with Ombersley able to bring on fresh legs they started to make headway.
The equaliser came from a corner, Welland failing to clear a low ball which was poked home by an alert Ombersley player.
With time running on, penalties became ever more likely as neither team looked capable of breaking the deadlock.
With extra-time completed, and the Welland players drained, the shoot-out became a formality. Ombersley’s keeper then went on to score the winning penalty
