WELLAND played some of their best football of the season to overrun local team Cradley in this Mercian Festival u10s division one fixture.
Cradley have failed to find the net in four meetings between these teams and they never looked like breaking their duck on this occasion.
However, the score line was particularly harsh for Cradley’s goalkeeper who made a string of fine saves to keep the total in single figures.
Alex Watkins, Wilf Owen and Jonny Amery all proved formidable defenders, and were ably protected by midfielder Lewi Hobbs.
This freed Welland’s attack to concentrate on going forward.
Welland took the lead after Sam Whitton played a searching ball forward that was collected by Henry Dyde for his opener.
Jim Smith doubled the lead before Sam Whitton, Welland’s man-of-the-match, scored a deserved brace. Henry Dyde added a second before setting up Smith for his brace.
Dyde then made it a hat-trick with a flying header from Whitton’s cross.
