CHRISTMAS can be a tough time for some cats across Worcestershire, with thousands of animals bought as presents abandoned once the novelty has worn off.
And the festive season puts added pressure on the Worcester and district branch of Cats Protection, which rehomes hundreds of cats every year.
The branch closes for rehoming over Christmas but there are still many cats in its care who are waiting to settle in loving homes.
Cats in the charity’s care looking to meet that special someone include Connie, an eight-year-old tabby, and Percy a grey six-year-old.
Lynn Glaze, branch co-ordinator, said: “They are the best of friends and inseparable, but their owner could no longer keep them.
“Connie is a little timid and Percy is very laid back. They bring out the best in each other.”
Connie and Percy would be happiest living together in a home with older children and without dogs. Twelve-year old brother and sister Jake and Chloe also want a fresh start in time for the new year.
Jake is a black and white cat who is very loving and enjoys fuss while Chloe is a tortoiseshell who is very friendly, good natured and fine with children. Mrs Glaze said: “Jake is so placid and ever so good with children. He is looking for a loving home, ideally with Chloe. She is incredibly playful and loves chasing her own tail!
“Older cats like Jake and Chloe have a lot to offer as they tend to be lap cats and have much more settled natures.”
Anyone who could provide a home for these pairs or any of the cats in the branch’s care should call 01905 820348.
