Newtown Sports Juniors U12's 2, Ombersley U12's 0.
NEWTOWN entertained Ombersley at Dukes Meadow on Sunday.
Ombersley started this game well and put the defence of Newtown on the back foot for the first 15 minutes or so but never threatened to trouble home keeper Joe Crews. The back four of Ross Mulka, Brandon Hughes, Daryl Davis and George Theakston soaked up the pressure well. Newtowns midfield of James Bannister, Shane Abel, Ben Kite and Kyle Stimson started to get hold of the game and started to win more of the ball. Juniors started to pick holes in the Ombersley defence and a great run by Sam Daffin who hit a tremendous shot from 20 yards which hit the crossbar only for the ball bounce the wrong side of the line. HT 0-0 Juniors started the 2nd half at a tremendous pace moving the ball about making the Ombersley players chasing shadows. Kyle Stimson got just reward for his hard work when he beat two defenders and hit a unstoppable shot into the roof of the net. It was all one way traffic now and good goalkeeping by the visiting keeper kept the score to the single goal.
Luke Simpson made the game safe in the 52nd minute when from a tight angle found the corner of the net. Sam Wallace had a steady game at right back replacing the injured Ross Mulka.
