U10- FERNDALE YOUTH GIRLS 0 , NEWTOWN SPORTS GIRLS 2.
NEWTOWN looked the strongest team right from the off with most of the game being played in Ferndale’s half. Amelia Law, Jodie Noon and Maggie Smith all had chances to open the scoring for Newtown but couldn’t quite find the target.
Sophie Brookes and Ellie Cox both looked comfortable in defence dealing with any Ferndale attacks, which left keeper Jade Smith with little to do.
A few words of advice at half-time paid dividends less than five minutes into the second-half when Amelia Law went through one on one with the Ferndale keeper and slotted home comfortably.
This gave the girls some much deserved confidence and they played some lovely passing football leading up to their second goal, a nice diagonal through-ball from Georgina Smith finding Maggie Smith, who picked her way through the Ferndale defence and then beat their keeper. More build-up play from Lilia Withey and Georgina Smith nearly led to a third from Jodie Noon but Newtown had to settle for two.
Newtown Sports Juniors FC are looking for Girls of all ages to join their various teams and coaching centre. If you are interested, call Simon Elmes on 07754 797801.
