NEWTOWN SPORTS JUNIORS u9s 1, LEIGH BRANSFORD BADGERS u9s 0.
THIS top-of-the-table clash brought Newtown up against their local rivals from Leigh Bransford. Both teams have made an impressive start to the season with consecutive wins but it was the Juniors who grapped the points in this thrilling clash. Newtown had the better of the first half and scored through Bray while Smith, Hill and Senter forced the badgers keeper into making several fantastic saves. The second-half was more evenly contested with the Badgers pushing forward at every opportunity looking for an equaliser but again the Juniors defence of McCullough and Rodway kept them at bay. With the Badgers pushing forward Newtown were able to hit back on the break and both Wickett and Dickenson were denied by further great saves from Ross Grimshaw. Overall a fantastic game.
