Bam Academicals were set up in 2008.
The name comes from HBG Construction's parent company, Royal Bam, in the Netherlands and includes Academicals as we are working with a school in Bromsgrove to help deliver a two-year construction qualification with 27 students in Year Ten who are being recruited into the new team.
The aim of the partnership is to encourage students to participate in construction and sport, as their qualification includes football in its core curriculum.
HBG has finished building five new schools in and around Bromsgrove as part of the £65m PFI contract with Worcestershire County Council and will use the new facilities we constructed at North Bromsgrove High School through HBG Facilities Management. The team also includes some students from South Bromsgrove High School, which we also built.
This partnership is our commitment towards making construction a learning opportunity, even when we have finished building in Bromsgrove.
We have the following management group: Manager Phil Eves (39 years old and ex-student of South Bromsgrove High School).
Coach Sam McGeowen (16 years old and ex-student of North Bromsgrove High School who has just completed his construction qualification).
Secretary Clare Rylatt, HBG assistant quantity surveyor (20 years old who worked on the Bromsgrove PFI contract) Treasurer Paul Turner (23 years old ex-North Bromsgrove High School student and an ex-apprentice bricklayer, now Weaver PLC trainee quantity surveyor).
