FLOODING has closed a Worcestershire pub after defences and water pumps failed to stop water from entering the business.

Fox Inn, in Bransford, near Worcester, was forced to close after water came flooding in following heavy rain from Storm Bert.

The countryside pub lies next to the River Teme off the A4103 by Bransford Bridge and said that despite flood defences and water pumps, the river has managed to make its way in.

Staff from the pub wrote on Facebook: "Unfortunately, the river got us this time. Despite all flood defences in place and pumps too.

"Can’t stop water, unfortunately.

"We will be closed until we understand the damage and how long it will take to repair.

"We are so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and hope you rebook with us.

"Times are tough already without flood risks. 

"Myself and the team hope to see you soon."

The pub's Facebook page posted pictures of the flood waters covering the inside of the pub and wrapping around the bar area. 

Fox Inn initially posted on Facebook yesterday morning (Sunday) announcing the closure but was hopeful it would reopen today.

But now that the water has entered the pub, it is uncertain when it will reopen to the public.

It has also apologised to everyone who has booked with them.

Storm Bert continued to wreak havoc on Worcestershire's roads today (Monday) as water levels rose across the county.

A new Met Office yellow weather warning for strong winds was issued on Saturday night, and since then, many roads, homes, and businesses have been affected.

The county's worst-hit area is Tenbury Wells, where pictures showed Teme Street submerged by water and multiple roads affected. The flooding in the town was caused by the Kyre Brook.

In October 2023, the pub was forced to close after flood water started pouring into it while customers were inside. 

Multiple boat crews from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service responded to an initial report of a vehicle in water on Bransford Lane and later reduced punters.
