TRIBUTES have been paid to the 'inspirational' former Archdeacon of Worcester, Frank Bentley, who has died aged 90.
Mr Bentley, who was the city's Archdeacon for 15 years, has recently been in hospital and died from heart failure on Friday, November 15.
First ordained in 1958, Mr Bentley served in the Diocese of Bath and Wells before moving to Worcester to become Vicar of St John in Bedwardine Church in 1976.
He served as Area Dean and an Honorary Canon of Worcester Cathedral before he became Archdeacon of Worcester in 1984, continuing in that role until his retirement in 1999.

From 1994, he was also Chaplain to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The role is bestowed upon members of the clergy who have displayed a long and distinguished service.
Frank continued to live in the Diocese after his retirement.
A spokesperson for the Diocese of Worcester said the community was saddened by news of Mr Bentley's passing.
The spokesperson added: "We will share funeral arrangements when available.
"May Frank rest in peace and rise in glory."
Others have taken to social media to pay their own tributes to Mr Bentley.
Cllr Richard Udall said he was so sorry to hear the news, adding that Mr Bentley was a 'good man.'
Another described Mr Bentley as a 'real inspirational clergyman' who showed great compassion and care.
One woman recalled Mr Bentley conducting her marriage in 1978 and her daughter's baptism four years later.
She described him as a 'really lovely man.'
And one man said: "I remember him as a much-respected vicar of St John's.
"Sincere condolences to the family."
