A candlelit performance of Handel's Messiah will take place at Worcester Cathedral this festive season.
The concert, staged by Worcester Festival Choral Society, will see 150 voices and soloists perform the oratorio on Saturday, December 7 at 7.30pm.
The choir will perform 45 choruses and arias, including the Hallelujah chorus, For Unto Us a Child is Born, and The Trumpets Shall Sound.

The choir will be joined by soloists Hannah Davey, Judith Le Breuilly, Paul Smy, and James Cleverton.
The Meridian Sinfonia Baroque orchestra will accompany the choir, with the cathedral's director of music, Samuel Hudson, conducting.
Sue White, chairman of choral society, said: "Handel’s Messiah is a thrilling way to herald in the Christmas season.

The choir began in 1861, and has been associated with renowned composer Sir Edward Elgar.

Handel's Messiah was written more than 280 years ago and is one of the world's most famous pieces of choral music.
It is said that King George II was so moved by the Hallelujah chorus that he stood up to give a standing ovation – a tradition that audiences continue today.
