A FIRE at a home in a main street in Ledbury is being investigated as arson by police.
The blaze took hold of an outbuilding last night (November 12) at an address on New Street.
It took firefighters more than two hours to put the fire out and police were called due to the suspicious origin of the fire.
A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two crews – one each from Ledbury and Malvern Fire Stations – supported by two Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Newent and Tewkesbury were called at 10.31pm on November 12 to a building fire in New Street, Ledbury.
"A fire in a brick and timber outbuilding, around 10m by 4m, was well alight with the fire fought by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using one hosereel jet supplemented by a hydrant.
"Police were requested to attend due to the suspicious origin of the fire.
"The fire was extinguished but dampening down and turning over continued by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using one hosereel jet and a thermal imaging camera."
Enquires are ongoing and no arrests have been made but enquires are still ongoing by police.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "We received a report of a fire on New Street in Ledbury at around 10.55pm on Tuesday (November 12).
"The fire is being treated as arson and enquiries are on-going. No arrests have been made."
