A LEDBURY business has been evacuated following a 'significant' fire in the building. 

Fab Framing and Craft Gallery on Dymock Road is well alight with fire crews called to tackle the blaze earlier this afternoon (Tuesday, November 5).

Four Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to tackle the fire as well as a crew from Tewkesbury and an aerial ladder platform from Hereford.

The building on the Old Wharf Industrial Estate has been evacuated while eight firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using a compressed air foam system fight the fire.

Eyewitnesses have said that those living nearby have been told to close windows and doors due to fumes caused by a 'significant fire.'

Jenni Brown, who lives nearby, told the Reporter: "The fire looked bad when we were driving by. 

"We could see it was Fab Framing.

"There were two fire engines, I hope everyone was ok."

A fire service spokesperson said: "Four Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – one each from Ledbury, Ross-on-Wye, Fownhope and Malvern Fire Stations – plus the aerial ladder platform from Hereford and the incident command unt from Wyre Forest and an Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service crew from Tewkesbury were called at 14:24 on 5 November to a building fire on Dymock Road, Ledbury.

"A single-storey building, around 30m by 15m, is well alight with a fire fought by eight firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using a compressed air foam system, two main jets and a hosereel jet.  

"All persons have been evacuated from the building."
