AN auction hosted by a Bargain Hunt television antiques expert has raised more than £11,000 to help those affected by brain tumours.
The auction hosted by Raj Bisram at The Fox and Founds in Lulsley near Worcester raised £11,598 after he stepped in to help a villager whose son died from a brain tumour.
The renowned antiques expert and auctioneer visited the pub to host an Auction Night in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity.
Known for appearances on major programmes such as Antiques Roadshow, Bargain Hunt and Four Rooms, Mr Bisram donated his time to help villager Barbara Prodger with her fundraising efforts.
Barbara is running next year’s London Marathon in honour of her son Harley who died at the age of 26 due to an undetected Glioma and Haemorrhage on Mother’s Day.
The auction brought together a wide cross-section of the community with the lots coming from businesses and individuals.
Some auction highlights included: a signed Anthony Joshua Glove selling for £840; signed George Russell F1 Shirt fetching £370; two Led Zeppelin records signed by Robert Plant going for £880; Cheltenham Racecourse Experience selling for £600.
Barbara Prodger said: “The auction was a brilliant evening. A true community event. Everyone has been so generous in helping us fundraise for this event that is so close to my heart and to the wider Alfrick & Lulsley community. Thank you to everyone for their support.”
Tom Clarke, the Fox & Hounds Manager, added: “The money raised from this unique event is simply remarkable. The fundraising efforts Barbara has undertaken is amazing. An exceptionally strong and determined individual."
The next Fundraising Event in Barbara’s Fundraising Efforts is the upcoming Alfrick & Lulsley 10km & 5km Fun Run on Sunday, December 29.
