A literary festival is running Monday workshops to help a hospice raise £40,000.

Worcestershire LitFest & Fringe is among 21 organisations involved in St Richard's Hospice's 'Grow Your Dough' challenge.

The initiative encourages participants to use creativity and their networks to expand a £40 sponsorship from Ormerod Rutter into a significant donation for the hospice.

The funds play an important role in supporting the hospice's work with patients, their loved ones, and those experiencing bereavement.

The LitFest team will host online writing workshops every Monday between 7pm and 8pm, from October to December.

The October series focused on wellbeing and wellness, November will delve into Worcester's secrets, Birds of Paradise, and feature two open mics, while December will explore seasonal writing prompts.

The workshops are open to writers of all levels.

Nina Lewis, a poet and director at the LitFest, is behind the workshop initiative.

She has a personal connection to the hospice, as her grandmother, Betty Parry, received care there.

She said: "Our family is grateful to the team at St Richard's for making this experience bearable and peaceful.

"The atmosphere created inside the hospice is like nothing I've felt before.

"When I spotted the Grow Your Dough campaign I knew this was my opportunity to give back."

The hospice aims to raise £40,000 in the year of their 40th anniversary.

Ria Simons, corporate fundraising lead at St Richard’s, said: "We chose this challenge as part of celebrations to mark our 40th year of caring in Worcestershire."
