POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted in Evesham.
A woman in her 30s was attacked while walking through the Davis Road area of the town around 8pm on Wednesday, October 16.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a woman was assaulted in Evesham last week.
"She had been walking along Davis Road near the adventure playground and crossed near St James' Drive before cutting into an alley by Evesham Motor Services on St Richard's Road when she noticed someone was behind her.
"The man then assaulted her cause and minor injury and attempted to grab her mobile phone but did not manage to take anything from her."
Police officers will now be on patrol in the area as part of the investigation.
"The spokesperson added: "The man is described as around 5 foot 9 inches, is believed to white, though his face was partly covered, and he was wearing dark clothes, a jacket that felt silky and he had dark gloves on.
"The victim also recalls seeing someone nearby at the time, possibly with a torchlight and a large dog, possibly a golden retriever, on the other side of a brook from her."
Inspected Dave Wise said: "A week on from this incident, and having pursued many other line of enquiry, we would like to appeal to the public to see if they can assist us.
"We would like to reassure people that we believe this to be an isolated incident which poses no wider risk to the public."
Earlier in October, Carrie Thomas was seriously assaulted while walking down Port Street, leaving her with a cracked skull and a bleed on the brain.
A protest for over women's safety was held on Saturday (October 19) in response to the attack and others on Port Street in previous years.
Councillors discussed the issue of women's safety at a meeting on October 14, less than a week after the attack.
