A NEW brewery has opened its doors on a site once occupied by a renowned cider producer.

Night Owl Brewery opened its doors off Cowleigh Road in Storridge, near Malvern, last month on a site formerly used by Knights Cider.

Emily Stephens, who owns the brewery alongside her husband Miles, said: "The locals are loving the fact that beers are now back in production here.

"They're happy that the site is once again being utilised by a drinks business."

Following Knights Cider closing in October 2014, Crumpton Hill Farm Shop then operated at the site until closing in January 2024.

By February, Mr and Mrs Stephens had agreed a lease.

Mrs Stephens said: "We have lived in Malvern for around seven years now and had plans to open a brewery, but we were waiting for the right time and the right venue.

"It's such a beautiful location and the people around here are lovely.

The brewery's opening comes seven months after the pair opened artisan bottle shop BrewBox on St Ann's Road in Great Malvern.

Mrs Stephens added: "Great Malvern has a trendy, touristy feel to it in terms of the people that visit the shop.

"The brewery on the other hand has a local feel to it."

Night Owl Brewery is serving a pale ale named Flight and a bitter called Forest, while a third creation is on the horizon.

"We're aiming to release our porter, Storridge Stout, on November 14 and so we'll start brewing that really soon.

"Fresh, real ale is as good as it gets and our unique point is that we often pour our ales straight off the cask."

The brewery is also serving close-by brands such as Malvern Gin and wine from Coddington Vineyard.

Mrs Stephens, who has worked for the BrewDog brand and beverage company Diageo in the past, said: "We find that brewing is a non-competitive industry - other brewers like seeing new drinks being created.

"Me and Miles have had years of trying lovely, locals brews and everyone likes to try something new."

Night Owl Brewery is open from 11am until 6pm from Wednesday to Saturday each week.
