A homeless charity is set to offer a drop-in service for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Maggs Day Centre will host the session at Malvern Town Football Club every Thursday from 10am to 12pm.

The service will be open to rough sleepers, those experiencing hidden homelessness, and people in need of specific support.

Claire Hooper, outreach team manager at the charity, said: "Our outreach team are excited to have been invited to do a weekly drop-in at the Malvern Town Football Club.

"The purpose of this additional service is to offer support with everything from homeless approach to foodbank and clothing project referrals, to signposting to other agencies."

The drop-in service will also be an opportunity to connect with new rough sleepers and people experiencing homelessness.

The charity hopes to help them with whatever they need to make the next step into living in accommodation.

The help centre, primarily hosted by Platform Housing, offers a weekly service welcoming various other organisations such as Citizens Advice Bureau, social prescribers, Worcester City Council housing options advisors, Age UK, digital champions, housing officers, community builders, and wellbeing and life skills advisors.

Platform set up the help centre in 2016 as part of a digital initiative to help customers get online safely.

The service soon developed into a broader provider in response to demand, partnering with the life and wellbeing coaches at Community Housing to offer everything from housing to debt management.

Tim Marsh, digital transformation officer at Platform, said: "We are looking forward to hosting the Maggs outreach team at our help centre.

"We're constantly challenged by customers who are about to be homeless, which has risen significantly over the last few months, so we’re excited to have their expertise and cater to those who may not have engaged with us before."

Maggs currently operates a day centre in Malvern twice a week, where service users can receive a cooked breakfast, tailored support, food from supermarkets, and access drop-ins from other organisations such as the NHS health bus.
