A BUTCHER has reassured customers his shop is still open after vandals smashed windows.
BARNARDS Green Butchers has reassured people it is still open after rumours spread it had closed following the criminal damage.
Vandals smashed windows at the butchers on Barnards Green Road on Friday evening (September 27).
A spokesperson said no one was in the building at the time of the incident.
Police have now launched an investigation into the criminal damage.
Following the incident customers expressed concerns the butchers may have closed for good because the windows were boarded up.
However, in a statement posted on Facebook, the shop confirmed it remained open as usual.
The statement added: "An unfortunate incident happened where our windows in the shop have been broken.
"They will be reinstated in due course, regards from the staff."
Following the statement, people took to Facebook to express their relief Barnards Green Butchers was still open.
One said: "So pleased to hear I can still buy your excellent sausages."
Others said they were sorry to hear about the incident and sent their best wishes to all the staff.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "We received a report around 11pm on Friday evening (September 27) of criminal damage to a commercial property on Barnards Green Road in Malvern.
"An investigation is now ongoing."
