A MAN thought to be in the river was found safe and well after police checked CCTV.

Paramedics, firefighters and police officers were called to Worcester Bridge after reports of a man in the river.

However, the search was called off after cameras showed he had walked off.

The incident saw boats, drones and a rescue dog search the riverside for three hours.

A Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "One crew from Worcester Fire Station, water first responders from Malvern, boat crews from Worcester and Evesham, the drone from Ledbury and the urban search and rescue dog were called at 6.58pm on September 28 to a concern for safety at Worcester Bridge.

"A search was carried out for a missing man and the boats were launched to search the river.

"Police and ambulance were also in attendance.

"After a multi-agency meeting and the discovery of CCTV of a man making his way home, the search was called off."

The man was later found safe and well by police.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "We were called to Diglis Dock Road at around 6.50pm on Saturday following a concern for the welfare of a man at the riverside.

"Searches were carried out to locate the man and he was found safe and well later in the evening."
