A popular children's literature festival is set to return to Malvern.

The Great Malvern Festival of Stories for Children will take place at various locations around the town, including Malvern Library and the Malvern Cube.

The festival, which is organised by Malvern Hills District Council and Boffy Arts and Events, will feature a range of storytellers, authors, illustrators, puppet companies, and musicians.

The first four days of the festival will be designed for schools in the area, and a family programme will take place over the weekend.

The event will feature storyteller Peter Chand sharing tales from around the world, interactive fun, and Indian drumming, as well as a draw-along with author and illustrator Jonny Duddle, where children can learn how to draw dinosaurs.

The programme also includes a shadow puppet show and workshop, a mini creative writing session with Clara Vulliamy, and a talk with The Teddy Bear Ladies, stars of BBC's The Repair Shop, about their children's book.

There will also be free storytelling sessions, art activities, and stalls by authors from the area throughout the weekend.

Councillor Julie Wood, portfolio holder for tourism and economic development at Malvern Hills District Council, said: "We are delighted that the Festival of Stories will be back, celebrating our storytelling heritage and inspiring a new generation of storytellers, we encourage all families to pop along and enjoy all that is on offer."

Steve Boffy, from Boffy Arts Events People, said: "We are really excited to present the third Great Malvern Festival of Stories for Children.

"Since it began in 2022 we have seen interest in the event grow, especially with local school audiences.

"This year’s programme will be the most ambitious yet, featuring many new storytellers, puppet companies and authors.

"We have had to organise several additional performances on each of the school days just to deal with demand.

"We look forward to a fantastic festival.”

The festival will take place from Tuesday 22, until Sunday, October 27.
