A FORMER village pub has been transformed into a family home and is listed for sale for almost £1million.

The former Wagon Wheel pub and restaurant in Grimley, near Worcester, has been listed for sale at £999,950 by estate agents RJ Country Homes following a transformation.

Planning approval to demolish the pub and build two homes was given by Malvern Hills District Council in July last year, but instead the property, which is named Grimley House, has been given a full renovation.

RJ Country Homes' office manager, Jane Cook, said: "Grimley House, formerly a public house and restaurant for 40 years is nestled in the beautiful village of Grimley which has a sought after village primary school, easy access to the city of Worcester and good commuter links.

"It has been transformed into a superb five bedroom family residence by an established local developer and thoughtfully refurbished to provide diverse accommodation, and perfectly combining the old and the new.

"The superb thatched roof, a quintessential feature of a country property has been maintained to provide a focal point in the village.

"It offers plenty of outside parking and the former carpark for the Wagon Wheel has been utilised for a spacious garden.

"Adjacent to Grimley House is a 70 metre building plot which has planning permission for a two or three-bedroom dormer bungalow which is available by separate negotiation."

The further 70 metre building plot has been listed by RJ Country Homes for £250,000.

Three of Grimley House's five bedrooms come with ensuite bathrooms, while the property comprises four reception rooms.

The Wagon Wheel pub has been closed since December 2022 after its owner Giuseppe and Julie Giuliano had been actively trying to sell the venue for years with a view to retirement.

An initial planning application to demolish the site and build two homes was in July 2019, however Malvern Hills District Council rejected the plans citing that the venue was a "valued community facility".

The site's most recent planning application to convert the pub into a home and build a further home on the site was accepted on April 3 this year.
