A housebuilder has launched a competition giving children the chance to bring their dream play area to life.

Worcester-based Redrow Midlands, currently building at Kensington Gate, has relaunched a contest for children across the country to create captivating play spaces in their developments.

The company plans to appoint a 'Junior Head of Play' for the second year, inviting children aged seven to 14, residing on any Redrow development in the Midlands, to submit a drawing of their dream play area.

The chosen 'Head of Play' will join previous winners, Willow and Indy, who crafted their dream playground, which are now open to the public.

The winner will collaborate with Kevin Parker, Group Masterplanning Director at Redrow, contributing suggestions for favourite play equipment to assist in the development of future play areas.

Participating in a filming day around their residential development, the 'Junior Head of Play' will feature on Redrow's social media channels and highlight their dream play area, which Redrow will bring to life in future Midlands' developments.

Elaine Cartwright, sales director for Redrow Midlands, said: "Redrow is thrilled to initiate a countrywide contest, seeking children’s creative ideas for our playgrounds.

"We aim to listen to the young users of these spaces, enhancing and crafting friendly play areas for future enjoyment."

Willow and Indy, winners of last year’s competition, added: "We can’t wait to have another Junior Head of Play come and join us to help children like us get out and play this summer!"

Redrow will reward the winner with £250 in vouchers.

Parents wishing to nominate their child can email redrowteam@redconsultancy.com with a photo of the designed dream play area and a short biography, including the Redrow development they reside in.

The competition closes on Monday, September 16.
