Malvern Town Council's annual Mayor's Bonanza is set to return this month with a sporting theme.

The main event will kick off at 12pm on Sunday, August 25 at Victoria Park, Malvern Link, and is set to last until 5pm.

Festivities will start with the opening of the new community hub building at 11.30am, followed by an afternoon filled with activities, live entertainment and food stalls.

Sports activities inspired by the recent Olympics will be on offer, such as trampolining, zorbing, golf and a climbing wall.

Attendees can expect fete stalls, face painting, and circus workshops.

The event will also see performances from three bands, two dance groups and a rock choir during the afternoon.

The Mayor’s Bonanza aims to raise funds for Heartstart Malvern, one of Mayor Marilyn Birks's chosen charities for the year.

Heartstart seeks to improve the likelihood of surviving out-of-hospital cardiac arrests by training the public in basic resuscitation techniques and maintaining public access to defibrillators around Malvern.

Linda Blake, town clerk of Malvern Town Council, said: "We are thrilled to be running the Mayor's Bonanza again in 2024 in aid of such a worthy local charity like Heartstart Malvern.

"It is particularly special this year with the official opening of the new community hub in Victoria Park which we hope will give the people of Malvern a space to bring groups and communities together."

The event is free for all to attend.
