A SUMMER fete has raised money to support a town charity.
Cleeve House Residential Home in Hornyold Road held the event in aid of Heartstart Malvern.
It will help fund the work done offering free CPR training and installing and maintaining the community defibrillators across Malvern.
A total of £447.70 was raised last Saturday with another relative donating a further £20 to make a total of £467.70.
Care coordinator Alex Gummery said: “We held our annual summer fete and all proceeds raised go to a local charity.
“This year our theme was a summer beach party.
“We had Pimm’s, cocktails, fish and chips and soft drinks for all to buy. We even had a pool and a large sand pit for the beach experience.”
Alex continued: “We also had a singer to provide entertainment for all the residents and families. We had a main raffle where local companies donated prizes.
“We had vouchers, including from Hereford United, Malvern Theatres, Ice Quest, Andrew Slater Hairdressing, Malvern Melts and the Anchor pub. The staff also created a luxury hamper donating various luxury items into which we also did a separate raffle.
“We also had a tombola and name the giant octopus.”
Heartstart Malvern’s aim is to save lives by increasing the chances of surviving a cardiac arrest in Malvern and the surrounding villages.
It is providing free life-saving training and installing public access defibrillators around Malvern. Since its launch in January 2017 Heartstart Malvern has trained more than 5,000 residents and schoolchildren on how to save a life by teaching simple resuscitation skills and how to use a defibrillator.
Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of many fundraising groups and individuals, it has been able to install 33 defibrillators around Malvern.
