I WAS honoured to be re-elected on July 4 as West Worcestershire’s Member of Parliament.

Thank you to all who voted and, whether it was for me or someone else, I shall strive to represent your interests with government at every level.

I want to mark my gratitude to all the people who ran the election process so efficiently to allow local people to have their democratic say on who represents them in parliament.

I’ve already repeated my firm commitment to lobbying the new government to deliver the two flood defence schemes in Tenbury Wells and Severn Stoke.

I have been campaigning for these for many years and am as frustrated as you are that planning has dragged on for many years.

I’m working towards getting meetings with the Environment Agency, the Diocese of Hereford and the new government to try and complete the projects.

There are many things I am worried about with the new government, such as imposing housing in places where communities have concerns, allowing wind and solar farms everywhere and letting the State Pension get dragged into paying tax.

I shall do what I can to oppose and challenge these measures.

It is great to see the economy on a growth trajectory again and the incoming government takes over a strong economic legacy with inflation back within the two per cent target, unemployment halved to four per cent from 2010 and the fastest growth in the G7.

Over the coming weeks I’m planning to meet with the leaders in our county’s health system.

The main hospital in Worcester has benefitted from a £35 million new emergency department and there has been significant other investment in buildings both there and in Redditch.

I’m keen to hear how the health service plans to make more use of our wonderful community hospitals and, in the heart of summer, its plans for the inevitable extra winter pressures that will come.

I’m honoured to continue to be your MP for West Worcestershire and please feel free to contact me if you need my help or assistance.
