POLICE would like to speak to a group of people seen on a horse and cart after an assault which has left a woman fighting for her life at Upton Blues Festival.
The assault took place at around 7pm on Waterside on Sunday, July 21, during which a 56-year-old woman was pushed and fell, hitting her head on a steel pipe.
This initially caused the woman's face to bleed but she was later taken to hospital with a life-threatening head injury.
The group of people, seen on a horse and cart, are believed to have been in Upton throughout the day.
They are also believed to have been near to a tethered horse located on Hanley Road.
Trainee detective constable Lewis Cleaves said: “We know Upton was busy for the festival, and that many people may have taken photos or videos which could be helpful for our enquiries.
We are keen to hear from anyone who spotted a horse and cart and who may have captured pictures or footage which could further help identify these people, as well as anyone who witnessed the assault.”
