A team of four Worcestershire business professionals will take on a grueling triathlon-style challenge in the Lake District.

The quartet, known as Team Unity, consists of Matt Nicol, owner of Nicol & Co, Adam Smith, director at Financial Advice Centre Limited, Ben Wood, co-founder of Cab Studios, and Piers Thompson, director at GJS - The House Surveyors.

They will compete in the arduous 'Race the Sun' on Sunday, September 8.

The new-for-2024 off-road route is expected to test the team's limits.

The team will start peddling as the sun rises with an 18-mile mixed terrain bike ride.

This will be succeeded by a demanding 11-mile round trip, including a climb to the Latrigg summit.

The final leg will be a challenging two-mile canoe race in the third-largest lake in the district.

Beyond the physical labour, the team has set an ambitious fundraising target of £4,000 for Action Medical Research.

Action has been funding medical discoveries for over 70 years.

Its impressive accomplishments include research that led to the first oral polio vaccine in the UK, ultrasound technology development in pregnancy, rubella vaccine testing, and successful campaigns to reduce the risk of stillbirth.

Currently they are funding investigations into illnesses such as asthma, epilepsy, and leukaemia, to name a few.

To support this cause, GJS will contribute a portion of all work billed throughout August and September.

Therefore, anyone procuring a home survey or valuation during this window will also be indirectly aiding the charity.

Supporters are encouraged to donate via the team's Just Giving page (https://www.justgiving.com/team/unityfitness).
