A Worcester housing association has thrown its support behind the upcoming Malvern Pride event.

The group, Platform Home Ownership, will head along to this year's event at Priory Park, set to take place on Saturday (July 27).

This year's celebration marks the fifth anniversary of the first Malvern Pride, which is a celebration of LBGTQ+ freedom.

Platform has said its involvement with the Pride event reflects its values of inclusivity, and the firm's commitment to helping the communities it serves.

The event is run by a team of volunteers with is supported by authorities and public donations.

During the event, Platform representatives will operate a stall, providing advice on Shared Ownership and routes onto the property ladder.

They will also provide bottled water and live entertainment.

Chris Pinson-Bradley, community engagement manager at Platform, said: "We’re really passionate about supporting causes that help local people and support inclusion, and supporting Malvern Pride as we have done for a number of years.

"Giving back to the communities we provide homes for is a key part of every development’s life cycle, and that will continue to grow as we expand our offering across Worcester."

The company's shared ownership allows homeseekers to purchase a percentage of their homes and pay rent on the remainder.

According to Platform this type of ownership has increased in appeal, seeing a 152 per cent rise in sales this year, likely due to economic uncertainty.
