A boss of a Malvern care home got her chef's hat on for a charity cook off.

Angela Bradford, managing director at Elgar Court care home, competed in the Barchester Charitable Foundation Cook Off 2024, cooking up a storm against the managing directors from Barchester’s other four divisions.

A huge £24,595 was raised for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, which supports vulnerable and disabled people by providing grants to improve mobility and quality of life.

Ms Bradford's Marbella Chicken and Summer Fruit Pavlova were praised by the judges from Barchester’s executive team, but she just missed out on the top spot.

The money raised will support the foundation’s work in caring for vulnerable people and those living with a disability, and connecting them with community groups in their area.

In 2023 the foundation reached a donation milestone of £225,000, which went towards helping 160 small groups and charities, plus 87 people in one year alone.

General manager of the care home, Sarah Cadwallader, said: "We are all so proud of Angela for taking part in this challenge, she really is amazing – is there nothing she can’t do!

"Her dishes looked absolutely fantastic and she raised so much for the Foundation, we think she is an absolute super star."
