THUNDERSTORMS are expected as the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning in Worcestershire. 

The Met Office has issued a blanket weather warning for across the West Midlands today, with flooding possible in some places. 

The Met Office said there is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray and standing water, leading to longer journey times by car and bus. 

The thunderstorms may also lead to some flooding in a few homes and businesses.

And there could be further damage to buildings and structures from lightning strikes.

Heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to break out this afternoon and move northwards, slowly dying out during the evening and first part of the night.

Around 10-20 mm of rain is possible in an hour or so, with some places potentially seeing 30 mm in a few hours.

The Met Office has advised people to give themselves the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables and amending travel plans if necessary.

People have also been advised to not shelter under or near trees, or other structures which may be struck by lightning.
