TRIBUTES have been paid to a retired stage theatre technician who his family say "loved being around people".
Bill Pritchard, from Malvern, died on Tuesday, April 30 after being diagnosed with stomach cancer.
Mr Pritchard worked at Malvern Theatres as a stage theatre technician for over 30 years before retiring about 10 years ago.
His family said it was the "perfect job" for him given his love of music and love of people.
"He loved his job, it was his life," said daughter, Emma.
"He had a big love for music and live performances so it was a dream job in many ways."
Mr Pritchard was born in Kidderminster in 1948 but grew up in Malvern.
Prior to working at Malvern Theatre, he worked as a carpet fitter, upholsterer, at the Abbey Hotel and a car park attendant at Three Counties during covid.
He was survived by his wife Liz, daughter Emma, son Billy and granddaughter Megan.
"He was a lot of fun, kind, caring and considerate" added Miss Pritchard.
"He was always up for a good laugh and loved his family.
"He'd go everywhere, you always knew he was there."
Miss Pritchard and Mr Pritchard said their father's passion for music was passed down to them, saying he "adored" live music and was a big fan of the Beatles.
"He collected a lot of memorabilia, from books to signatures from famous people," they said.
"He loved going out with friends or to the football to watch Aston Villa.
"We all had fun on holidays - he always had a good time.
"He knew everyone. We couldn't go anywhere without him recognising someone.
"He was like a local celebrity in a way."
Mr Pritchard's funeral was held on May 28 at the Vale Crematorium in Pershore, with his family "overwhelmed" by the turn out.
"As we pulled up people couldn't get in.
"There was roughly 200 people, it was insane.
"It was the perfect send off."
Prior to Mr Pritchard's death, a crowdfund was set up by friends to raise money for his family - which went on to surpass £6,000.
Miss Pritchard said this was used for things Mr Pritchard wanted to do, such as visiting friends in Bournemouth or taking his granddaughter to the Harry Potter Studios.
She added: "We took trips as a family. We wanted to take a trip to Liverpool but dad's health deteriorated quicker than we expected, but we'll still do it as a family I expect."
A page has been set up for in honour of Mr Pritchard with donations to St Richard's Hospice: https://bill-pritchard.muchloved.com/.
Mr Pritchard's wife, Liz, paid tribute to all those who helped her husband during his cancer diagnosis.
"Thank you to Dr Spoulton and his colleagues at Prospect View.
"St Richard’s Hospice, especially Kate, Rachel and all their colleagues.
"The neighbourhood team. Special thanks to the upper GI CNS team, Donna, Katie, Toby and colleagues. Malvern Theatres for all their support and kindness.
"Chris Bassett and everyone at the Coach House Theatre.
"Finally, Jackson family funeral directors. Especially Amie and to Jenny for leading Bill’s service to such a high standard.
"And all of our family and friends for their support."
