A FORMER Chinese takeaway in Malvern has been transformed into a brand-new property.

The building that used to home the former Lee Garden Chinese on Albert Park Road now has a fresh, new look.

Having been empty since the takeaway closed in 2019, developer Stable and Boughton Properties, based in Hallow, has given the building a new lease of life.

Having submitted plans back in 2022 to turn the building into a two-bedroom house, the plans have now come to fruition two years on.

Matthew Walker, who owns the property, said the plans came about after converting another property nearby into apartments.

"I own a bunch of businesses and we bought a property that was converted into six apartments," he said.

"We saw the building was vacant and one conversation led to another and we decided to turn it into a two-bedroom house.

"The plan was to turn it from its original design into a new unit with two bedrooms."

Having grafted to turn the initial plans into reality, the property was completed two weeks ago, which Mr Walker admitted was a "tricky" job but was done through a "labour of love."

Overall, the redevelopment of building cost £100,000, which had been bought for £377,000.

Together with the six flats, Mr Walker said it came to a combined total of £1.2 million.

Now that the property has been redeveloped, Mr Walker said the plan going forward was to rent it out as an AirBnb.

Speaking on the design of the inside of the property, Mr Walker said: "Well it's a Victorian property so the look is more regal.

"It set the tone of the project.

"The design work was my idea, then my good friend's Neil Sysum and Jonathan Kibble helped put my vision into action.

"They did a lot of the hard work - it was like three good friends pulling together on one project."

Mr Walker said while no was yet to move into the property it has now gone live on AirBnb.

"We're very positive about it."
