DOG walks on the Malvern Hills have turned into a money-spinning charity fundraiser for a Malvern hotel owner.

Barbara Morgan, who runs Great Malvern’s Cotford Hotel with husband Chris, decided to turn the regular exercise with Rupert, her three-year-old Airedale Terrier, into supporting research into cancer.

Originally, Barbara, 60, set a target of £150 but she has smashed that total with more than £1,280 raised while covering 63 miles with Rupert.

The April dog walking challenge has been for Stand Up To Cancer with a goal of strolling for two miles each day during the month.

The money goes towards speeding up life-saving research into beating cancer.

Barbara said: “63 miles and £1,288.75 raised! So proud to have been part of this and even more proud of all the wonderful support from my fabulous friends and family! Thank you all so much.”

Chris has been proud of his wife’s efforts and said: “Cancer has touched all of us at some point and it’s something we feel strongly about.”

The couple are proud to call Malvern their home after moving to the area 17 years ago with Barbara hailing from Warwickshire and Chris from Oxfordshire.

Their hotel and L’amuse-Bouche Restaurant are based in Graham Road.

Stand Up To Cancer is a fundraising campaign put together by Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 with more details at www.standuptocancer.org.uk.
