Worcestershire County Council have announced a new scheme that will give residents more access to Malvern Library.
The council has invested in new technology as part of the Libraries Unlocked initiative, aimed at extending library opening hours, providing the community increased access to their local library.
Once the system is up and running, library members aged 15 and above will have the chance to upgrade their membership.
They will then be able to use the library facilities outside the regular hours of operation, between 8am and 8pm from Monday to Saturday.
Worcestershire County Council is organising an introduction session about the new scheme at Malvern Library on May 15, 2024, from 11.00am to 12.30pm.
This meet-up will present an opportunity for people to learn more about how the programme works and brainstorm on how the community can maximise the benefits of the new service.
Libraries Unlocked membership offers users the freedom to access the library at their preferred times.
Members can borrow or return books, use library computers and Wi-Fi for free, find spaces for dedicated study, hire a meeting room for free, and participate in community events.
Councillor Marcus Hart, Cabinet Member for Communities at Worcestershire County Council said: "I am thrilled that Libraries Unlocked is coming to Malvern Library and urge you to drop by and learn how it works, the benefits and how you can make the most of the new service.
"Libraries Unlocked is a brilliant idea that empowers families, working parents, and the entire community to access the library at their convenience."
Existing Libraries Unlocked members have highly acclaimed the new initiative with one saying: "Brilliant idea and it's enabled us as a family to access the library more." More details about Libraries Unlocked can be found on the Library Unlocked webpages.
