MALVERN Green Space Food for Change project is on the move.
It has left the United Reformed Church Hall and is moving to the Scout Hut, Rodway Hall, Redland Road, Malvern.
This project began in 2020 and has grown from strength to strength.
Every second and fourth Friday of the month it creates a three-course vegan meal for about 50 people from food that would otherwise go to waste via the Fare Share scheme and from surplus fruit and vegetables kindly donated by The Fold at Bransford.
Everyone is welcome, no need to book, just go along from 12pm to 2pm. The meal is offered on a pay-what-you-can basis and has been supported in the last year through a National Lottery grant of £10,000 which has given it sustainability to move forward.
Sue Dakin, one of the organisers, said: “The exciting news is that we are moving to a new venue. From April 12th we will be at Rodway Hall Scout Hut in Redlands Road and they have welcomed us with open arms. We are looking forward to sharing their space with them.
“The meal provides a community space where people can meet up, connect and make new friends while we feed ‘Bellies not Bins’, what’s not to like!
“We also plan to hold our monthly Plant and Seed swaps there on the first Saturday of every month at 2pm - the first is this Saturday at Rodway Hall. Our Community Hub will be on the Fridays, when there isn’t a meal, 11.30am to 2.30pm.
“The Hub also provides a light lunch, sewing repairs, play area for young children, seeds and plant, pre-loved clothes, and company.
“We can be found over the next few months at Hellens Garden Festival and Malvern Pride. Please check out our website and Facebook page for further information
“Our first meal at the Scout Hut, Rodway Hall, will be on April 12th.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to Liz at Rodway Hall for making us feel so welcome and accommodating storage and sharing the Scout’s space with us, including the garden. We are looking forward to working with everyone there and moving forward. Our Hub is also moving to Rodway Hall too.”
