A NURSERY'S young Irish music and dancing fans enjoyed a St Patrick's-themed day with a world champion from the area.
Home-Grown in Malvern Preschool, Malvern Wells, invited a talented champion Irish dancer to perform routines for the children.
Imogen-Myah Frater, a year-nine pupil at Malvern's Chase School, secured world and British titles at the age of 11.
She attends McCarthy-Felton School of Irish Dancing in Salford Priors, near Alcester.
The children celebrated St Patrick’s Day by listening to a folklore story about the legendary leprechauns being one of the most enduring myths in Ireland.
They danced to Irish music, painted rainbows and included pots of gold to create St Patrick’s-themed artwork.
But the highlight of the day was welcoming and watching Imogen-Myah perform four Irish dance routines in her traditional outfit, both in soft and hard shoes, much to the delight of the youngsters.
The children asked Imogen-Myah questions and got a chance to hold some of her many trophies.
Preschool manager Natalie Luce said: "The children’s faces were a picture and we were overjoyed to have had this experience.
"All the children got a chance to show Imogen-Myah their own Irish dance moves and would like to say a massive thank you for her visit.
"They now all want to be Irish dancers just like Imogen-Myah! What a way to celebrate local talent in Malvern."
