IT’S a case of ‘let’s hear it for the ladies’ when it comes to football at Malvern Town on Sunday.
Malvern Link café SunBeans, which is owned by Michelle Jenkins and Claire Dockerill, is sponsoring the Worcestershire FA Women’s County Cup semi-finals against Worcester City Development (2pm).
The Newtown Sports girls’ under sevens football team, Michelle’s daughter Mollie’s team, will also be there as mascots for the derby match at the HDanywhere Community Stadium.
Michelle said: “So local ladies in business supporting ladies’ sports with the upcoming next generation of ladies’ footballers as mascots.”
Community-minded Michelle and Claire will have been at the Richmond Road café and sunbed shop for two years on April 30.
Michelle said: “We love to support local. My daughter plays for Newtown girls’ under sevens football team and we sponsored their training tops.
“We are also sponsoring the Malvern Town Ladies’ football club semi-final against Worcester City this Sunday at Malvern Town football club where the girls will be mascots.
“We collect old bras for Cancer Research UK and unopened toiletries for the Women’s Refuge.
“We hold coffee and crafting every Saturday from 11am until 1pm and the local councillor Fran Victory holds a clinic here every second Saturday of the month too.
“We also have a ‘pay it forward’ board where people can leave drinks or meals for people who are struggling to be able to take off the board and we have kid eat for free with every paying adult.”
The director of women’s football at Malvern Town, David Baker, said: “Our women have a had a tremendous season so far with an opportunity to win our league and hopefully we can continue our good form and progress to the final.
“We are extremely fortunate and privileged to have local businesses sponsor our women and are proud that SunBeans Café and Sunbeds have again kindly agreed to be our match-day sponsors on Sunday.
“We expect a highly-competitive match and would encourage as many and as much local support as possible.
“It’s free admission and our clubhouse will be open for refreshments.”
