PEOPLE have the chance to take part in a superb outdoor walking challenge, while raising money for charity.
The Mayor’s Peaks Challenge on Saturday, May 4 will see participants choose from two different lengths of walk.
For those who like a challenge, the “end to end” long walk of 18km (6-8 hours) takes you over the seventeen peaks of the Malvern Hills.
Registration will be in Priory Park, from 8am with coaches leaving from 8.30am to take walkers to the starting point on the Bromesberrow Estate.
The short walk is 9km (3-5 hours) taking in the main section of the Malvern Hills and including the highest peak of the hills, The Worcestershire Beacon.
Registration for this walk is in Priory Park from 10.15am until 11.30am and a shuttle bus will take walkers to the starting point at British Camp.
All entrants will receive an event T-shirt and will be presented with a finishers medal. Well-behaved dogs are welcome and will be presented with a rosette at the finish.
The event has been kindly sponsored by Vertu Motors, with dog rosettes and treats being supplied by Austin and Co.
Malvern Town Clerk, Linda Blake said: “Malvern Town Council are delighted to be running The Peaks Challenge again.
"This event provides a superb outdoor walking challenge along the beautiful Malvern Hills, while raising much needed funds for St Richards Hospice.
"A huge thank you to Vertu Motors who are sponsoring the event T-shirts and medals as this allows all funds collected to go directly to the charity.
“Entrance fees this year includes a £2 donation to Malvern Hills Trust to preserve and conserve the Malvern Hills, the remainder of the fees go directly to the charity St Richard’s Hospice, we hope that you will participate in this worthwhile challenge over the Malvern Hills. “
Book your tickets now to take advantage of the early bird discount valid until March 15. Entry for the long walk is £19.00 (normally £22) and the short walk £14.50 (normally £17). See Malvern Town Council website to log on and book tickets.
