A NEW shop that specialises in selling fresh, local beers is set to open in Malvern.
BrewBox, by Night Owl Brewery, is an artisan bottle shop and is scheduled to open its doors in St Ann's Road, Great Malvern on Thursday (February 8).
The company sells beers, wines, spirits and ciders, as well as fresh beer straight off the cask, which is all produced locally and can be collected, sampled and consumed onsite.
Although the dog-friendly shop only has a small seating area it is mainly standing room and offers customers a chance to taste its brewed products before they are bought.
Miles and Emily Stephens run the shop having worked together running businesses for around 14 years and settled in Malvern five years ago.
"BrewBox is a retail specialist artisan bottle shop with a fresh beer element," he said.
"It will also serve as a secondary outlet for our forthcoming Night Owl Brewery Microbrewery & Distillery with tap space that we are in the process of setting up in another site slightly more rurally based.
"We aim also to stock other artisan food products all sourced and provided both in-house and externally from our other lines of conservation and sustainable work."
Mr Stephens said the emphasis of the business pointed more towards retail rather than a bar or tap room.
"People can come and have a beer and sample our products but, unlike pubs, we are strictly a daytime operation so we leave the pubs to do the pub thing."
All products are local and from an array of fine drinks producers, both bottled as well as cask ale direct from the barrel and fresh cider.
Mr Stephens revealed all products were produced within a 15-30 mile radius, whilst supporting local producers from surrounding areas.
"Essentially the products we sell are what you wouldn't see on the supermarket shelves," he said. "It's more for the discerning buyer and is all independently produced.
"We are committed to adding to the flourishing food and drink scene by using all locally sourced ingredients and produce, from both ourselves and others, while supporting other local independent businesses, pulling more visitors in so we all benefit and generate further income streams & employment.
"We are looking forward to it and we're ready to go."
BrewBox is open from 11am to 5pm from Thursday to Saturday and 12pm to 4pm on Sundays.
