The public toilet block in Upton upon Severn's Hanley Road Car Park has now reopened following an renovation.

The project, from Malvern Hills District Council, saw the toilets transformed by an eco-friendly refurbishment.

The refurbishment began in September 2023, costing approximately £150,000.

Notable features include LED lights, solar panels linked to a hybrid battery system for reduced electricity use, and the installation of low flush toilets to limit water usage.

The Upton toilet block follows successful renovations in Great Malvern and Tenbury Wells, completed in April 2022 and June 2023 respectively.

The refurbishment also saw significant structural improvements, including new doors, low water usage taps, a complete re-tile, re-decoration, new cubicles, improved drainage, mechanical and electrical installations, and a new flat roof.

Cllr John Gallagher, portfolio holder for resources at the council said: "This refurbishment is a great addition for the town and its visitors.

"The eco-friendly works will allow water and electricity usage to be reduced, which is also a great benefit for the environment."
